Description
Double Pole (2-Pole) Changeover Switch with Fuse, typically used for switching a building’s power source between two different inputs, such as WAPDA/Utility and a Generator.
Based on the specs (500V, 30A), here is a step-by-step guide on how this product is installed and used.
Step-by-Step Installation Guide
[!IMPORTANT] Safety First: Electricity is dangerous. Ensure the main power is turned off before opening the box. If you are not a licensed electrician, do not attempt the wiring yourself.
1. Mount the Unit
Screw the metal casing onto a solid, non-flammable wall near your main distribution board. Ensure there is enough clearance on the right side for the lever handle to move freely.
2. Internal Fuse Inspection
Open the front cover. Inside, you will find ceramic fuse carriers.
-
Check the Fuse Wire: Ensure the copper fuse wire is intact and rated for 30A.
-
Tighten Terminals: Loose connections cause heat and melting. Ensure all screws are tight.
3. Wiring the Sources
The switch acts as a “bridge.” You will typically see three sets of terminals:
-
Source A (Top): Connect your Main Utility/Grid (W) wires here.
-
Source B (Bottom): Connect your Backup Generator (G) wires here.
-
Load (Center): Connect the wires going into your home’s circuit breaker panel here.
4. Grounding
Connect the earth/ground wire to the dedicated grounding screw on the metal body of the switch box to prevent electric shocks.
